PARKING can be a challenge because it is located in San Francisco. You can circle around the surrounding streets for street parking or park in an outside lot that you have to pay for. The area does not feel the safest so be aware of your surroundings. RESERVATION You should call ahead to make a reservation not necessarily because this place was busy on a Friday night, but to make sure the staff knows you are coming. At 7:00pm on a Friday, Kimbara was empty as in no other customers were there haha. It worked out because it allowed for a private dinner with no competition with other customers to have the food prepared well and fast. It can feel kind of awkward being the only customers in a restaurant, but as long as you have good company, which I did, then it's all good. INSIDE was overall simple and clean. See my photos for details. During the late nights they have different events such as a DJ with dancing, a full bar, and karaoke nights I believe. The first time I came here was in November of 2021 when they used to have bachata social dance nights through the InEssence dance company. It turns out this place is a great place for food too. While waiting for the food to arrive, we danced to the salsa music and even requested bachata music to dance to as well. FOOD The Arroz Con Mariscos a lo Norteno had great flavor and the rice was the perfect consistency and not dry. The Chifles were part of the sides menu. They were something I had never had before. They were thinly sliced plaintains that were like potato chips, but way better because they weren't oily and felt healthier. STAFF The server was attentive, and I don't have any complaints. BATHROOMS are gender neutral where each toilet has its own door. The sinks are along a wall for everyone to use. One thing I will say is they should have the motion to the light sensor stay on for longer because the light turned off, and I was mid doing my business. Luckily I don't need light to pull up my pants haha. GENERAL I would come back here for the food, and I am interested to try the other items on the menu considering on this day I wasn't eating meat and thus opted for the seafood option.

Our family came to SF celebrate our dad's birthday and wanted to find a restaurant that had his favorite dish, Pescado de Sudado. This was the only Peruvian restaurant that had it from what we could find online. The moment we stepped in, we loved the decor and vibes and how proudly It asserted its Peruvian roots. Looking through the menu we decided to order a variety of dishes that sounded like an interesting twist on Peruvian favorites but still stayed true to its strengths. We ordered: Lomo Mar y Tierra (twist on Lomo Saltado, amazing!) Chaufa de Quinoa (Arroz chaufa but a twist with quinoa and flavors from Asian cuisine, we're definitely gonna try and recreate this ourselves!) Vaca Frita con Tacu Tacu (this was a new one to us! Fried plantains were A1 immaculate!) Sudado de Pescado (Mahi Mahi fish stew was generous with the meat portion) All dishes were impressive and the customer service was top tier. Several of our plates got cold and we asked if they could warm it up in the microwave for us but instead they remade the dish brand new! Please give this gem a try! P.S: Apparently they also have a DJ here on weekend nights for their bar.

Love everything here! Love coming here during dinner time - food never disappoints. Love the Empanadas super cheesy!! The new wall art is amazing and such a vibe :)

My wife and I enjoyed the food and danced the night away. Who does that on a Sunday? Food was delicious, service and staff were attentive and kind. Looking forward to another visit. Oh yeah, also posted some pics and video on yelp. Enjoy!!!

Food was unbelievable! I forgot the name but their in house drink is spectacular. The ceviche was probably the best I've ever had. The fried calamari was fantastic and the sweet potato dish was almost too good to believe! The music was awesome and is loud so be ready to use your outdoor voice to speak to your party! Oh, and the hospitality is second to none!

First of all the restaurant is beautiful and the food is delicious. The owners are kind and truly care about their reputation. They also throw great nightlife events! We were there for the super bowl and it was so much fun, besides the loss, and the music from @crw.ent was awesome!

We enjoyed our dinner here -- Friendly staff, delicious food and cocktails, and a convenient location!

Amazing food! Loved the drinks, the prickly pear salserita drink was yum! Causa de camarón, yucca and Arroz con Mariscos was off the hook! Great service m, highly recommend Kimbara!
